The short answer (checked 4 November 2026): Icedrive has not announced a Black Friday 2026 sale. Its lifetime page shows 500 GB for €219 and 2 TB for €479, with an extra 10% off for new customers that brings them to €197.10 and €431.10. There is no plan above 2 TB, and only its Encrypted folder is end-to-end encrypted. The ShieldFive Founding Lifetime is 5 TB for €249, with every file encrypted on your device and no sale to wait for. €249 until 30 November 2026, then €299.
Private photo and file backup, paid once
5 TB for a single payment, no subscription. Every file and file name is encrypted on your device before upload. 30-day full refund, or start with 10 GB free.
Founding Lifetime · 5 TB · 150 vaults in total · until 30 Nov, then $335
Icedrive lifetime prices today
Read on Icedrive's own lifetime page on 4 November 2026:
| Plan | Price (shown down from) | With new-customer 10% off | Per TB after 10% off | Files Icedrive cannot read |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 GB lifetime | €219 (€329) | €197.10 | €394 | Only the Encrypted folder |
| 2 TB lifetime | €479 (€719) | €431.10 | €216 | Only the Encrypted folder |
| ShieldFive Founding Lifetime | 5 TB for €249 | No sale | €50 | Every file and file name |
The extra 10% came with a countdown of about 48 hours when we opened the page, so treat the timer as a nudge and check the price on the day you buy. Icedrive shows its lifetime prices down from a higher figure all year; compare euros, not percentages.
What Icedrive did on Black Friday 2025
Deal roundups reported 50% off lifetime plans, with 1 TB plus a year of IceVPN for $199 (It's FOSS, Cloudwards), running into early December. Details differ between roundups, and we could not find an archived Icedrive page, so treat them as a guide. Icedrive sold a 5 TB lifetime plan in an earlier promotion (TechRadar), but none is on its page today.
The comparison that matters: price per terabyte, encryption included
| Option | Storage | One-time price | Per TB | Encrypted on your device |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Icedrive 2 TB, today | 2 TB | €479 | €240 | Encrypted folder only |
| Icedrive 2 TB, with 10% off | 2 TB | €431.10 | €216 | Encrypted folder only |
| Icedrive 1 TB, Black Friday 2025 | 1 TB | $199 | $199 | Encrypted folder only |
| ShieldFive Founding Lifetime | 5 TB | €249 | €50 | Every file |
Even at last year's deal, Icedrive cost several times more per terabyte. If that changes on 27 November, this page will say so.
Why the encryption detail decides it
Icedrive's end-to-end encryption applies to its Encrypted folder; the rest of the drive is readable to Icedrive. That means photos, backups and anything you forget to move sit outside it.
On ShieldFive there is no folder to remember: every file and file name is encrypted in your browser or app before upload. We store only ciphertext and never hold your keys.
Where Icedrive is better
Stated plainly, so you can decide:
- Apps. Icedrive has native Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android apps and a virtual drive. ShieldFive has web, Android, Windows and Mac apps but no sync client, and its iOS app is still in testing.
- Smaller sizes. If 500 GB is all you need, it costs less than our 5 TB, and it has a 30-day refund.
- Track record. Icedrive has been running for longer. Neither Icedrive nor ShieldFive has completed an external security audit; our crypto core is open source.
If you need those, wait for Icedrive's sale.
Who should buy ShieldFive instead of waiting
- You want every file private by default, without managing a special folder.
- You need more than 2 TB, which Icedrive does not sell as a lifetime plan.
- You want the term in writing. We could not find what "lifetime" means at Icedrive or what happens if the service ends. Ours is 99 years or the account holder's lifetime, whichever is shorter, with at least 12 months' notice and a full export if ShieldFive stops (what Lifetime means).
- You would rather not watch prices for four weeks. Our price is fixed through Black Friday.
It includes 200 GB of downloads every 30 days, for personal use. That suits an archive you open from time to time, not a library you stream daily.
Try it first
The free plan is 10 GB with no card, encrypted the same way. Upload a few files, preview one and share one with an expiry before you pay.
