To be precise about what EU-hosted buys you: your encrypted files and the database are stored in the European Union (database in Frankfurt, encrypted files in Amsterdam), processing runs under an Article 28 Data Processing Agreement published in full — sub-processor list included — before you pay, and the few operational sub-processors outside the EEA are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. What it does not buy you: GDPR compliance is not a certificate anyone issues, ShieldFive holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 report, and it does not sign US HIPAA Business Associate Agreements. The protection you are paying for is architectural — files are encrypted on your device, so there is no plaintext on the server to hand over.

Is the free plan really free?
Yes. 10 GB of encrypted storage with no card and no time limit. If you use it to collect documents from clients, the first 14 days have no limit on open requests; after that the free plan allows 1 at a time, links last up to 7 days and automatic client reminders stop. Documents you already received are always kept.
What's your refund policy?
Your first paid purchase of any plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee — one-time purchases, including the Founding Lifetime, as well as subscriptions. Email us within 30 days of the purchase and we refund it, no lengthy justification required.
Can I cancel, and what happens to my files?
Cancel any time from your account. You can export your files whenever you like, so leaving is as easy as joining.
Is the cheaper plan less secure?
Every plan includes client-side file encryption, including the free 10 GB plan. Encryption formats depend on the platform, not the price: see Security for web and Android differences and the authentication boundary.
Will my price change after I subscribe?
The price you sign up at applies for the billing term you choose: monthly or yearly. A change to list prices never affects a term you have already paid for.
