Generated in your browser with a cryptographically secure random source. Nothing is sent to ShieldFive or stored anywhere.

Questions

Is this password generator safe?
Yes. Passwords are generated entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API (a cryptographically secure random source), with unbiased sampling. Nothing is transmitted to ShieldFive or stored anywhere, so no server ever sees a password you generate.
How long should my password be?
Longer is stronger. For most accounts, 16 to 20 random characters with a mix of letter cases, numbers and symbols is comfortably strong. Use a unique password for every account and store them in a password manager so length is not a memory problem.
What makes a password strong?
Length and randomness. A truly random password drawn from a large character set has high entropy, which is what determines how long it would take an attacker to guess. Reused or dictionary-based passwords are weak no matter how they look, because attackers try known passwords first.
Does ShieldFive store the passwords I generate?
No. There is no server involved in generation at all — it happens locally in your browser. We never receive, log, or store what you generate.
