A Password Pusher alternative with browser-side encryption
Password Pusher is a common way to send a credential that expires after a set time or number of views. ShieldFive’s Secret Link keeps that expiring-link workflow and adds true zero-knowledge encryption.
Because the secret is encrypted on your device and the key never reaches our servers, a breach of ShieldFive would expose only ciphertext — not your passwords.
Where the encryption happens is the difference
Expiring links and view counts are workflow; they do not change what the server can read while the link is live. Here the credential is encrypted in your browser and the key stays in the fragment, so the window during which a server-side compromise matters never opens.
Views and time, both capped
Anonymous links allow one view and last up to 7 days. Signed in, you can allow up to 5 views and up to 30 days — for a credential a colleague may need to open twice, without leaving it live for a month by accident.
The link is the only factor
The fragment is the single decryption factor today; an optional password on top of the link is on the near-term roadmap, not shipped. Send the link over a channel the recipient controls, and treat an unexpected open as a reason to rotate.
Nothing to install, no account
It runs in any modern browser — no extension, no CLI, no signup to create a link. Signing in only adds link history and the higher view and expiry caps.
Share a secret in seconds
Paste it, send the link, and it self-destructs after one view — no account required.
Create a secret linkQuestions
- How is this different from Password Pusher?
- The core difference is where encryption happens. With Secret Link the plaintext is encrypted in your browser and the decryption key lives only in the link, so the server holds nothing readable.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. It runs in any modern browser — no extension, no account required to create a link.
- Can I set how long the link lasts?
- Yes. An anonymous link burns after one view and expires after a time you choose, up to 7 days. Signed in, you can raise that to 5 views and up to 30 days.
