A Jotform alternative that encrypts uploads before they’re sent
Jotform’s file-upload forms are flexible, but the files pass through and rest on Jotform’s servers in readable form. When you’re collecting IDs, payslips, or medical documents, that intake is exactly what you don’t want a third party able to open or retain.
ShieldFive File Request is a narrower tool built for one job — collecting documents securely. Each file is sealed to your keys on the client’s device, so the intake exists only as ciphertext until you decrypt it.
The intake host holds only ciphertext
An ID scan or a payslip is encrypted on the uploader’s device to your public key before anything is transmitted. We hold ciphertext and encrypted filenames — there is no readable submission on our side to search, retain, or hand over.
One job, deliberately
No conditional logic, no payment fields, no 10,000-template gallery. You set a title, a checklist of documents, and an optional note. Jotform is the broader tool; this is the one that stores what it collects only as ciphertext.
EU-hosted, DPA included
Ciphertext and metadata stay in the EU, and a GDPR data-processing agreement comes with every seat rather than an enterprise call — which is the difference between defensible and awkward when the upload is a medical form.
Not a free upload endpoint
Each link requires a PIN, carries per-request file-count and size caps, and sits behind per-link and per-IP rate limits; you can set it to expire and revoke it at any time. A form URL that leaks can’t be brute-forced or turned into anonymous storage by whoever finds it.
Start collecting documents securely
Create a request, share one link, and your clients upload without an account — each file sealed to your keys in their browser.

Questions
- Is this a full form builder like Jotform?
- No. File Request does one thing: collect documents from clients securely. You set a title, a checklist of what you need, and an optional message; the client uploads against it. If you need conditional logic and payment fields, Jotform is broader — but it can read your uploads, and this can’t.
- Where are the files stored, and for how long?
- Ciphertext is stored in the EU. Each request expires after up to 7 days on the free plan; on Firm seats you can set 30 or 90 days or leave it open. You can revoke it whenever you choose. A GDPR data-processing agreement is included on every seat.
