Client intake questionnaires that stay privileged
A new-client intake questionnaire captures the facts of a matter — often privileged, often sensitive. Collecting those answers through a generic form host leaves a readable copy outside your control.
ShieldFive Secure Forms seals each questionnaire response to your firm’s keys in the client’s browser. (Collecting documents rather than answers? See ShieldFive File Request.) You decrypt answers in-house; we hold only ciphertext.
One fewer party who can read the facts
A client’s account of their matter is encrypted to your firm’s public key on their device. The provider storing it is not a party that can open it — which keeps the list of people technically able to read privileged material as short as it should be.
The questions reveal the matter
An intake form’s wording often gives away the practice area and sometimes the dispute. The title and questions are encrypted with a key in the link, so that is not sitting readable on our servers. Anyone with the link can read them; a link without its key is refused.
EU residency, in writing
Ciphertext and metadata stay in the EU under EU jurisdiction, with a GDPR data-processing agreement on every seat — a concrete answer when a client’s engagement terms say where their information may be processed.
A prospective client won’t sign up
Someone deciding whether to instruct you will not create an account to answer your questions. They open a link and fill it in. Only the firm needs an account, because the answers are sealed to the firm’s keys.

Questions
- Is this appropriate for privileged intake?
- Answers are sealed to your firm’s keys on the client’s device and stored only as ciphertext in the EU. We never hold your firm’s keys. The honest limit: we serve the JavaScript that does the encrypting, so the guarantee is “encrypted in the browser, ciphertext at rest”, not a claim that no server could ever be subverted. For collecting files (contracts, evidence) rather than answers, use ShieldFive File Request, which uses the same encryption.
- Can several lawyers see the responses?
- Yes. Add seats and the firm’s decryption identity is sealed to each member, so the practice shares one inbox without sharing personal keys.
