Files are encrypted in your browser with the real @shieldfive/crypto core before they leave your device. We store only ciphertext, in the EU.
Need bigger transfers, a history of what you sent, or to collect files from clients? ShieldFive does end-to-end encrypted storage and intake, with nothing left in plaintext on our servers.

Sending a password or an API key rather than a file? ShieldFive Secret Link encrypts it the same way and deletes it after one view.
Questions
- How is this different from WeTransfer?
- The files are encrypted in your browser before they are uploaded, and the decryption key rides in the link after the “#” — a URL fragment that browsers never send to a server. WeTransfer can read your files; ShieldFive only ever stores ciphertext.
- Can you see the files or their names?
- No. The file contents and the filenames are encrypted on your device with the key that lives only in the link. We store ciphertext and opaque metadata — nothing readable.
- How big can a transfer be, and how long does it last?
- A transfer can hold up to 20 files and 750 MB in total (streaming for multi-GB is a fast-follow). Without an account, a link can be downloaded 20 times and lasts up to 7 days, and one network can send up to 10 transfers or 2 GB a day. When the link expires or its downloads run out, the ciphertext is deleted.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Anyone can send a transfer for free. Signing in adds history and higher limits.
